How HYVV works
What each part of HYVV does today, who these docs are for, and how to start.
On this page
Use these docs to set up a company on HYVV and run it day to day: agree ownership with your partners, form the company, keep the cap table and pay revenue shares. They describe the product as it works today: when a page says HYVV does something, it is live in the app.
Who these docs are for
- Founders setting up a new company, or bringing an existing one into HYVV.
- Partners, contributors and advisors who hold equity or a revenue share and want to see what they own and what they have been paid.
Quick start
- Start for free (opens in a new tab).
- Start a new company with Foundation and Hyper Formation, or import a company you already run.
- Agree on ownership with your partners in the Foundation flow. Each proposal passes only when every partner approves it.
- Connect your company’s Stripe account, so HYVV can see the payments it receives.
- Create a revenue share for a member, or share an Earn Link. Once the recipient connects their own Stripe account, payouts run on your company’s payout schedule. Pricing shows which parts are free and which need a monthly plan.
Key concepts
Foundation — Before anything is filed, the founding team sets out contributions, equity and revenue-share terms. Each proposal passes only when every partner approves it, and handing the approved plan to Hyper Formation locks it.
Revenue share — A contractual right to a percentage of the gross revenue your company receives through Stripe, with an optional dollar cap and end date. It is not equity.
Waterfall — Shares are paid in priority order, starting with priority 1. If the cash above your reserve runs short, the shares lower in the order get what is left.
Earn Link — A link to a revenue-share offer: a percentage of your company’s gross revenue, with an optional cap on what each person who claims it can earn. Anyone can read the terms; whoever claims it signs a revenue participation agreement and connects Stripe to get paid.
Payout schedule — HYVV splits each payment the moment it clears in Stripe — or batches it daily, weekly or monthly on the schedule you choose. Stripe then pays each person out to their own bank on their Stripe payout schedule.
Receipt — Every payout produces a receipt that shows the payment it came from, the share it was paid under and the amount. Receipts can be shared and verified by link.
Tamper-evident ledger — Every money movement is written to a hash-chained ledger that is re-verified every night, so any later change is detectable (tamper-evident).
